DENVER ¬— Wednesday, May 16, 2012 —The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) today announced the 2012 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Exporting. The award has been given annually for more than 40 years and honors Colorado companies that demonstrate a commitment to international trade. OEDIT’s Executive Director Ken Lund will present the awards to this year’s winners on May 17 at the 2012 World Trade Day event luncheon. World Trade Day 2012 is being held at the Infinity Park, 4400 East Kentucky Avenue, Denver.

This past week resolution was reached between the health care community and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association on their issues with HB 1300, the extension of peer review in Colorado hospitals and other faculties. HB 1361, a compromise proposal for assisting victims of the recent wildfire in Jefferson County, was introduced. Compromise was also reached on SB 174, which will create a pilot program for Denver to conduct property tax valuation appeals during the 2013 appraisal.
The Innovation Center of the Rockies
The Innovation Center of the Rockies (formerly the Boulder Innovation Center) has entered into a commercialization partnership with CSU Ventures to accelerate the creation of new businesses based on CSU faculty research. The ICR will work with CSU Ventures staff to develop the intellectual properties holding the most promise for commercialization within a variety of markets supported by ICR including Bioscience, Cleantech, Engineering, Aerospace and IT/Software. National Bioeconomy Blueprint
Today, the Obama Administration announced its commitment to strengthening bioscience research as a major driver of American innovation and economic growth. The National Bioeconomy Blueprint outlines steps that agencies will take to drive the bioeconomy—economic activity powered by research and innovation in the biosciences—and details ongoing efforts across the Federal government to realize this goal.
C2D2 Provides Grants for Drug Discovery Research
Awarding $216,282 to Colorado researchers in 2012. Including this year's awards, C2D2 has provided more than $660,000 to 11 drug discovery programs from all major research institutions in Colorado.
